Abstract

Literary translation is one of the most important tools for cultures to interact and influence one another. It is even more essential in today’s Belarus, as it serves as an aid to the popularisation of the Belarusian language and literature. Nevertheless, translating literary texts presents a particular array of challenges. This article analyses Ryhor Baradulin’s SpanishBelarusian translation strategies (addition of rhymes, grammatical adaptation, fi delity to foreign elements) based on three examples from Federico García Lorca’s works with varying target-text results.
